Westminster Council
As a central London local authority Westminster Council faces a huge challenge in managing traffic congestion and demand for road space while meeting the expectations of its own residents.
Through a comprehensive qualitative study of Westminster residents and motorists who regularly drive into the borough, Populus distilled a wide range of very strong opinions into specific, actionable findings.
As a result, Westminster announced a major reorganisation of its parking services based on the findings of its consultation.
As part of its Best Value review of communications, Westminster Council commissioned Populus to find out how residents received information about the council and how well the council communicated with them overall.
Populus also probed views of specific publications – in particular the Council’s principal publication Westminster Reporter – to discover how they could be improved. As a result of Populus’s work a number of significant changes were made to the magazine. Westminster Reporter was named Best Corporate Publication at the 2006 PR Week Awards.
