Blue Rubicon - Sing Up
Issue
Blue Rubicon worked with Sing Up, the National Singing Programme, on a campaign to encourage children to recall historical events by singing about them. The Schooltrip Singalong was supported by partnerships forged with seven school trip attractions, including the Eden Project and Jorvik Viking Centre as well as specially created song resources and teaching packs to help children get more from their summer school trip experience. The challenge was to create a media profile for the launch of the campaign.
Solution
Populus conducted an online omnibus survey to generate a sample of 1,762 English adults to find out how much they knew about English history. Nearly half (47%) of 18-24 year olds don’t know the Roman’s built Hadrian’s Wall. A similar number (45%) don’t know Nelson led us to victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.
Outcome
The findings helped Blue Rubicon create a media story which resulted in significant coverage including BBC News, Daily Mirror, The Times, Daily Express, significant regional coverage and featured on various other media outlets.
