Her team has already completed a wide-ranging brief for a London Borough, combining knowledge of behaviour change theory with social marketing techniques and local research, to provide practical recommendations.
A former Director of Corporate Affairs at the MyTravel Group plc and Special Adviser to Rt Hon Michael Portillo, Alison has more recently spent time in academia studying Health Psychology with a particular interest in Behaviour Change. She joins in the newly created role of Director, Behaviour Change.
Michael Simmonds, Founder and Managing Director, said “Populus has a reputation for innovative research. Behaviour change studies that provide evidence-based recommendations are quickly becoming an essential source for policy and communications strategy development. This is a natural extension of our social, political and stakeholder research.”
Alison Broom, Director, Behaviour Change, said “Having worked with Behaviour Change in an academic environment, it’s very satisfying now to be able to use that knowledge, together with my policy and communications experience, to work with policy-makers in this growing area. The squeeze on budgets and the political impetus for a new relationship between government and citizens, has brought behaviour change techniques to the forefront of the agenda in both local and central government.
